The demo runs on £5,000 play money. No card details, no sign-up, nothing hidden in small print. Click and you're in.

This isn't a simplified version. You're playing the exact same game build as the real money version—same mechanics, same drop patterns, same RNG engine. The demo was last updated December 2024, keeping it identical to the live version. ELK Studios runs the same server setup for both, so what you see here is what you get with real stakes.

You can test the full feature set: trigger bonus rounds, see how birds collect symbols, watch the grid expand to 8×8. The balance resets if you run low. No session limits, no artificial restrictions. Use it to understand the volatility, see how often features land, get comfortable with the collection mechanics before you decide whether to play for real.

The only difference: wins don't pay actual money. Everything else—how often you win, how features trigger, maximum payouts—works exactly as it would with a real bet.

Most slots make you wait for symbols to land in the right places. Pirots flips that—four cartoon parrots move across the grid, actively hunting down matching crystals and feature symbols like they're on a treasure hunt. Each bird collects its own colour, and what they gather upgrades throughout the round, building from basic gems to crowned crystals worth serious money. It's ELK Studios trying something properly different with the "CollectR" mechanic, and it worked well enough they've since made five sequels, including Pirots 4.

The 5x5 grid expands to 8x8 when bomb symbols explode, birds swap positions when stuck, and the whole thing plays out like a puzzle that solves itself in increasingly chaotic ways. With 94% RTP and 10,000x potential, it's not trying to be generous—it's trying to be interesting. Whether that trade-off works depends on how much you value mechanics over math.

How To Play

Before you start, you'll want to set your bet. Tap the coin button in the bottom-left corner—it'll open a grid showing amounts from €0.20 to €100.00. Pick your stake, and you'll see it update in the BET display at the bottom of the screen.

Once you're ready, hit the large circular spin button in the bottom-right corner to start the reels. But here's something you might miss: you can also hold down that spin button to activate autoplay. It's a quick shortcut that brings up the auto spin menu without needing to tap the AUTO button at the top.

If you prefer the traditional route, tap the AUTO button in the top-right corner instead. You'll get four options: 10, 25, 50, or 100 automatic spins. Select your preferred number, and the game runs on its own until the spins finish or you tap the button again to stop.

Speed and Sound

Want to speed things up? Open Settings from the bottom navigation bar. You'll find a Quick Play toggle there—switch it on for faster spins. The Settings menu also controls sound (overall audio, game effects, and music separately), so you can customise your audio experience.

There's also a Show in Coins toggle if you'd rather see wins displayed as coin values instead of currency.

Information Access

The bottom of the screen has four buttons: Paytable, Settings, Rules, and Promotions. Tap Rules to see the seven-page explanation of how symbols collect and features trigger. Paytable shows what each crystal level pays. The hamburger menu (three lines, top-left) gives you additional options.

Demo Mode

If you're playing the demo version, you'll see "DEMO PLAY" with a €5,000 balance in the information panel. Your bet and balance update after each spin, so you can track where you stand without any real-money risk.

The interface is straightforward—set your bet, spin, and optionally automate. The hold-to-auto feature is the smartest shortcut once you know it's there.

Bonuses & Symbols

How Pirots Works

Before we get into what pays what, you need to understand the core mechanic – because Pirots doesn't work like most slots.

Four cartoon parrots live on the grid. These birds physically move around and collect symbols that touch them orthogonally (up, down, left, right – not diagonally). Each bird collects gems matching its own colour, plus any feature symbols it touches. That's how wins happen.

The game starts on a 5×5 grid but can expand up to 8×8 when bomb symbols explode.

The Collectors: Meet the Birds

These parrots are on the grid throughout the game. They're not paying symbols themselves – they're your collectors.

Green Parrot collector with red scarf and golden anchor medallion

Green Parrot

Bright green plumage with a red scarf around its neck, wearing a golden medallion with an anchor. Large, expressive green eyes. Collects green gems.

Red Parrot collector with grey helmet and white beard

Red Parrot

Red-orange feathers wearing a grey metal helmet with a red feather on top. Has a white beard and a serious, combative look. Collects red gems.

Purple Parrot collector with pink-purple plumage and fluffy beard

Purple Parrot

Pink-purple head plumage with a long, fluffy beard in matching colours. Large yellow eyes and an orange beak, giving off wise, important vibes. Collects purple gems.

Blue Parrot collector with bright blue fluffy feathers

Blue Parrot

Bright blue and fluffy with a surprised, cute expression. White eyes with black pupils and a yellow beak. Collects blue gems.

All four birds collect feature symbols (coins, wilds, bombs, etc.) regardless of colour.

Paying Symbols: Gems

Gems are faceted crystals that come in four colours, each matching one of the birds. Every gem has five levels – they start at level 1 (no crown) and can be upgraded to level 5 (crown with a bright star).

The crowns are golden with three prongs. The bigger the crown, the higher the level and payout.

Red Crystal

Red gem level 1 - no crown Level 1
Red gem level 2 - small crown Level 2
Red gem level 3 - medium crown Level 3
Red gem level 4 - large crown Level 4
Red gem level 5 - crown with star Level 5

Bright red with an orange glow – the premium gems.

Purple Crystal

Purple gem level 1 - no crown Level 1
Purple gem level 2 - small crown Level 2
Purple gem level 3 - medium crown Level 3
Purple gem level 4 - large crown Level 4
Purple gem level 5 - crown with star Level 5

Bright pink-purple.

Green Crystal

Green gem level 1 - no crown Level 1
Green gem level 2 - small crown Level 2
Green gem level 3 - medium crown Level 3
Green gem level 4 - large crown Level 4
Green gem level 5 - crown with star Level 5

Emerald green.

Blue Crystal

Blue gem level 1 - no crown Level 1
Blue gem level 2 - small crown Level 2
Blue gem level 3 - medium crown Level 3
Blue gem level 4 - large crown Level 4
Blue gem level 5 - crown with star Level 5

Light blue, semi-transparent.

All crystals are diamond-shaped with clear facets and bright highlights.

Gem Payouts

Here's what they pay for each gem collected, based on a €1.00 bet:

Level Red Crystal Purple Crystal Green Crystal Blue Crystal
5 (crown + star) €3.00 €1.50 €1.00 €0.60
4 (large crown) €0.40 €0.24 €0.18 €0.12
3 (medium crown) €0.20 €0.08 €0.06 €0.04
2 (small crown) €0.10 €0.04 €0.03 €0.02
1 (no crown) €0.05 €0.02 €0.01 €0.01

Wild Symbols

Wild symbol - golden crown with W letter

The Wild is a golden crown with a white letter "W" on the front. It's three-dimensional with metallic sheen, three prongs on top, and red gemstones embedded in it.

Wilds substitute for any gem at whatever win level that gem is currently at. So if you've upgraded your blue gems to level 3, a Wild collected by the blue bird counts as a level 3 blue gem.

Feature Symbols

These don't pay directly (except coins), but they trigger effects when collected by birds.

Coin symbols with multiplier values

Coin Symbols

Round golden coins with ornate borders and an orange gradient background. The value is printed in black: ×5, ×25, ×1000, or WIN.

When a bird collects a coin, it pays that value multiplied by your current bet. So a ×1000 coin on a €1 bet pays €1,000.

Bomb symbol - dark sphere with white skull

Bomb Symbol

A dark grey-black sphere with a white skull in profile. You can see the skull's eye sockets and teeth. Often glows with an ominous orange aura.

When a bird collects a bomb, it explodes after there are no more wins in view. The explosion removes all symbols in close proximity (except other feature symbols), causes new symbols to drop in, temporarily removes the birds (they reappear at their nests), and expands the grid by one row and column – up to a maximum of 8×8.

Transform symbol - RUM barrel

Transform Symbol

A wooden barrel with "RUM" written in white letters on the middle of three golden metal hoops. Brown wood texture, cylindrical shape, light brown lid visible on top.

When collected, it transforms a cluster of gems around it into the same colour as the bird that collected it, or into random feature symbols.

White diamond upgrade symbol

Upgrade Symbols

White diamond: A diamond/rhombus shape with black outline. When collected, it upgrades gems matching the bird's colour. The gems increase by 1 to 3 levels, up to a maximum of level 5.

Multicoloured rainbow diamond upgrade symbol

Rainbow Upgrade

Multicoloured rainbow diamond: Same shape but with multiple colours. Upgrades ALL gem types at once by 1 to 3 levels, regardless of which bird collected it.

If a gem is already at max level, another random gem gets upgraded instead. If all gems are maxed out, no upgrade happens.

Bonus symbol - golden anchor with red ribbon

Bonus Symbol

A golden nautical anchor with a red ribbon wrapped around it. Classic anchor shape with a ring on top, central shaft, and two flukes below. The word "BONUS" appears in large yellow dimensional letters on the ribbon.

Collect three of these during a game round to trigger the bonus game.

Birdhouse with rainbow roof

Birdhouse

A small house with a triangular rainbow roof (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple in sequence). White walls with coloured inserts and dark window openings. Yellow-brown base. Bright cartoon style.

This appears to be another feature symbol that interacts with the collection system.

Feature Awards

This isn't a bonus – it's part of the base game.

As birds collect symbols during a round (everything except bonus symbols counts), you fill up a collection meter. When you collect enough symbols, a Feature Award triggers: three gems on the grid transform into feature symbols. You can trigger multiple Feature Awards in a single round.

Free Drops bonus trigger

Free Drops Bonus

When birds collect three bonus symbols (the golden anchors) during a game round in normal mode, you trigger the bonus game. You get 5 free drops.

The bonus starts on whatever grid size you had when you triggered it – anywhere from 5×5 to 8×8. The grid size stays persistent throughout the bonus.

Crucially, the gem win levels are persistent. If you had red gems at level 4 when the bonus triggered, they stay at level 4 throughout all free drops. Same with your symbol collection progress.

During free drops, collect three more bonus symbols to retrigger and get another 5 drops.

All wins are paid at the end of the bonus round.

Additional Mechanics

Birds switching places: If there are no more wins and no collections possible, adjacent birds might randomly swap positions if it could create a win.

Win cap: The game caps at 10,000× your bet. If you hit this during a round, the round immediately ends and you're paid out. Maximum cash win is €1,000,000 (based on the maximum bet of €100).

Birds Collect, You Plan

Pros Cons
  • CollectR mechanic transforms passive spinning into active gameplay → birds physically move and collect symbols, making each round feel like solving a puzzle
  • Grid expansion from 5×5 to 8×8 during play → bombs don't just pay, they physically grow your playing field and create more opportunities
  • Gem upgrade system with five levels → symbols gain crowns as they level up, turning low pays into premium symbols within the same round
  • Persistent state bonus mode → grid size, collection progress, and gem levels carry through all free drops rather than resetting each spin
  • £0.20 minimum bet suits cautious exploration → important given the complex mechanics you'll want to learn in demo mode first
  • Seven-page rules section with visual examples → unusual thoroughness helps decode the intricate CollectR system, meeting UK transparency standards
  • 94% RTP sits well below UK player expectations → when most slots offer 96%+, this two percentage point gap means noticeably less returned over time
  • Orthogonal collection only → birds can't grab diagonal symbols, which limits strategic options and can feel restrictive when you see matches they can't reach
  • Steep learning curve with six different feature symbols → transform, upgrade (white and multicolored), coins, bombs, wilds, and bonus symbols each behave differently
  • Just 5 free drops in bonus round → feels light compared to typical 10-15 free spins elsewhere, though the persistent mechanics compensate somewhat
